An Expo/World’s Fair is held every five years and is a nation-to-nation exhibition held for six months. Toronto’s City Council in June 2012 directed City Staff to evaluate the feasibility of Toronto hosting an Expo in 2025 and the Economic Development Department is preparing a comprehensive report for late 2013.
Toronto must submit a formal intention to bid for Expo 2025 by May 1, 2016 to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in order to be considered. Canada must remain a member of the BIE in order to submit its intention.
OUR POSITION: The Toronto Financial District BIA supports Canada’s continued membership in the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) and the City of Toronto’s exploration of a bid for the 2025 Expo.
